Whether by the sea or in the mountains, this small country on the Mediterranean offers nature lovers a wide variety of landscapes. Although it is a small country, Croatia has a rich variety of dreamy landscapes with unspoiled nature, mountain ranges, rivers, lakes and a long history. The total of 8 national parks, 11 nature parks and some special reserves spread over an area of almost 4,500 km² and thus the small country shows itself from its most beautiful side.
Biokovo is the largest and longest mountain in Dalmatia. Thanks to its diverse flora and fauna, which includes numerous plant and animal species, the Biokovo was declared a nature park. The best way to get to know the flora is by visiting the Kotišina Botanical Garden.
Nowhere has a mountain range come so close to the sea and created such a spectacular picture as on the coast of the Makarska Riviera. We can't decide which is more beautiful and impressive: the view from the coast to the Biokovo Mountains or from Biokovo to the coast, the crystal blue sea and the green coastal belt.

A true jewel of the Adriatic is hidden near Jablanac, the ferry port to the island of Rab: Zavratnica is without a doubt one of the most beautiful bays on the Croatian coast and at the same time part of the Velebit Nature Park. More than 129 species of plant species have been counted in the bay.
According to legend, three Roman cities sunk in an earthquake in 615 AD and this is said to have created the Zavratnica bay.
