Wakeboard, just like other board sports - snowboarding and skateboarding, is more than just a sport, like other "extreme" sports, it's a lifestyle, with an increasing trend worldwide. Globally, wakeboard has millions fans ,today.
Sport branches out into two main disciplines – boat wakeboard and cable wakeboard - rides the ski lifts. The main difference is that when riding a boat for jumps and tricks one is using the wake - the wave that is created by the boat, and when using the lift one uses the force of pooling sideways that allows you to jump. We can also distinguish a newer discipline - Wakeskate (board without bindings), boat or cable, mateurs, mostly in the U.S.. Sport is a very dynamic and attractive for spectators and gets more and more of media attention.
Who deals with wakeboarding?
Recreational riders are people of all ages and skills, while the professionals are a group of 15-35 years. Starters do not need special requirements, but certainly tempo of progress depends on how much or engaged one is in sports and in what condition you 're in.

Within the Croatian Association for water skiing there are six clubs involved in wakeboarding and the nearest club for water skiing is in Crikvenica - riding behind the boat - beach in Crikvenica www.kirica.hr and Wakeboard Club Krk - Cable Krk - Punat Bay on the island Krk - www.wakeboarder.hr
