Rovinj-an island oasis and winding streets
The main reason for coming here is to see the various Venetian, Romanesque and other architectural magnificent buildings,as the town has the houses but up against the water's edge, similar to what you would find in a lot of Italian towns.
Rovinj is overlooked by the cathedral of Saint Euphemia built in 1736 and located on the highest point of the town.
The old core of the town is network of short and narrow streets, very typical for most of the coastal towns in the Mediterranean area. Such a structure is protecting against the freezing winter season wind called "bura" but also, against the summer heat which ocasionally could reach over 40 C degrees.
In the summer evenings it could be perfect place for hanging around and enjoying in refreshing wind, coming from the sea, which circulating inside the old core. Almost each of the short streets offering terraces in front of the restaurants, cafe-bars or wine-cellars. Just follow the crowd while hanging around or pick your place for spending enjoyable evening, even if alone, because very soon friendly people around will accept you as an old friend alike.

Porec is a prestigious destination of Croatian tourism, located on the gentle western Istrian coast. It stands out with the strength of its natural and historical values, which irrestistibly attract torrents of pilgrims.Euphrasian Basilica is the most valuable cultural monument in Porec, dating from 6th century.
Very pitoresque Decumanus street is the main street of the old core of the town and was also the main road during Roman times. It runs through the center of the old town.
Today Dekumanska is a car free street with lots of shops and several cafes.
On this street you shouldn't miss a Gothic palace built in the XV century and the museum inside Sincic Palace (XVIII century). In Poreč, many houses have their front painted with this apricot color. The apricot color of the front of the houses matches perfectly with the blue of the sky.

Pula
There is one and only one reason to make a special trip to Pula, and that is the magnificent Roman amphitheater. It is in such a great state of repair that it is still used for concerts during the summer.
The basement under the arena, where the animals were kept, is now a somewhat underwhelming little museum of olive oil presses; however it is pretty impressive traversing that long tunnel and imagining what it would have been like back in the day.
There are numerous other historical sites in Pula, the most impressive including the temple of Augustus. The most amazing thing about this temple is that it was completely destroyed by a bomb in 1944 and by 1947 was standing again, perfectly reconstructed. There were originally two temples here and the remains of the Temple of Diana have been incorportated into the present municipal building.

Before Pula's city walls were removed there were at least 9 gates through which you could enter. The most impressive of these gates is this one known as the Twin Gates which now stands splendidly alone in Ul Carrarina. The double-arched gate was the main entrance to the city and today it is the entrance to the Archeological Museum and the castle.
The centre of the city has some lovely pedestrianised streets. Giardini with its central walkway shaded by two lines of trees is a good place to stop and have a coffee or an ice cream and get a feel for mornings in Pula
Sit somewhere at many places to enjoy your coffee or local black wine or cedevita. It's one of the best things to do after you've feed your eyes with Pula's historic sights and city has impressive culture of socializing by the sidewalks and wide pedestrian streets and squares.
